From Shambles To Sage
When I first became a homeowner, I had illusions of grandeur—imagining every room decorated down to the last candle wick. Thought I’d snap my fingers and have an HGTV-worthy home.
Reality? Five months into paying this mortgage and just now starting my office 😂
I had a gorgeous desk sitting in my shopping cart for weeks. But one day, I walked past the lonely old desk in my garage and realized—it had potential.
It was free. It was sturdy. It just needed some TLC… and a lil’ sage green glow-up.
🎨 THE DIY PROCESS (with full paint + seal details)
This project was all about working with what I had—and doing it with love, not stress. I used Country Chic’s All-in-One Chalk Paint and honestly, it made the whole process feel easy and beginner-friendly.
Materials Used:
• Simplicity White – Country Chic All-in-One Chalk Paint
• Sage Advice – Country Chic All-in-One Chalk Paint
• Country Chic All-in-One Clear Coat Sealant (for durability + soft matte finish)
• Painter’s Tape (for the top pattern)
• 120 Grit Sandpaper Pad
Steps I Took:
1. Gave the desk a light buff with a 120 grit sandpaper pad—nothing too intense. The paint still adhered beautifully, which I love about Country Chic products.
2. Painted the base in Simplicity White, then added Sage Advice where I wanted contrast and a pop of peaceful color.
3. Taped off and painted a criss-cross pattern on top for personality and dimension.
4. Sealed the entire piece with Country Chic’s All-in-One Clear Coat Sealant for a long-lasting, soft matte finish.
So if you’re looking for paint that sticks, slays, and seals the deal—this combo is Auntie-approved. 👏🏾
